Ingredients
2 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey granules
4 tablespoons Japanese BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons Korean BBQ Rub Seasoning
2 pounds chicken wings
2 tablespoons olive oil
Canola oil, for greasing the grill grates
Preparation
Prepare the Wings
Place the chicken wings in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss until evenly coated.
Add the gluten-free soy sauce and Korean BBQ Rub Seasoning. Mix thoroughly by hand, ensuring every wing is well coated with the seasoning blend.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
Grill the Wings
Preheat your grill to 425°F. Lightly oil the grill grates with canola oil to prevent sticking.
Arrange the wings on the indirect heat side of the grill. Close the lid and cook for 40 minutes, turning the wings every 20 minutes.
Continue cooking until the wings reach an internal temperature of 165°F when checked with a meat thermometer.
Add the Glaze
Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl. Sprinkle the honey granules over the wings and drizzle with the Japanese BBQ sauce.
Toss until the wings are evenly coated in the sweet and savory glaze.
Return the wings to the grill and cook for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the glaze to caramelize and develop deeper flavor.
Finish and Serve
For extra smoky flavor and a slightly charred exterior, move the wings over direct heat during the final minutes of cooking. Grill for approximately 1 minute per side, watching carefully to prevent burning.
Remove from the grill and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the seasoning mixture.
Gluten-free soy sauce or tamari works well in this recipe.
Honey granules help create a caramelized coating without making the wings overly sticky.
Always verify that your Japanese BBQ sauce and Korean BBQ seasoning are certified gluten-free if serving guests with gluten sensitivities.
Leftover wings can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
