Make this easy red sangria recipe with Garnacha, fresh apple, pear, and orange, or choose the refreshing alcohol-free hibiscus sangria option.
This Easy Red Sangria Recipe with Fresh Fruit offers two refreshing ways to make a colorful, fruit-filled pitcher for entertaining. Choose the classic version made with dry Garnacha red wine and orange liqueur, or prepare the alcohol-free hibiscus sangria with strongly brewed hibiscus tea and sparkling water.
Dry Garnacha works beautifully in classic sangria because its fruit-forward character, ripe berry notes, and moderate tannins complement the fresh apple, pear, and orange without overpowering them. Pulp-free orange juice adds bright citrus flavor, while Grand Marnier or Cointreau gives the sangria an additional layer of orange flavor.
For the alcohol-free version, hibiscus tea creates a beautiful ruby-red sangria with a naturally bright, tart flavor. Hibiscus tea bags make preparation simple, while sparkling water or club soda adds a refreshing, bubbly finish just before serving.

Ingredients
Shared Fruit Base
1 Pink Lady apple, cored and chopped
1 orange, thinly sliced, then cut in half
1 pear, cored and chopped
1/2 cup pulp-free orange juice
Ice, for serving
Option 1: Classic Red Sangria
1 (750 mL) bottle dry Garnacha red wine
1/4 cup Grand Marnier or Cointreau
1 to 2 tablespoons simple syrup or granulated sugar, optional
Option 2: Alcohol-Free Hibiscus Sangria
3 cups water
4 hibiscus tea bags
1 to 2 tablespoons simple syrup, honey, or agave nectar, optional
1 to 1 1/2 cups chilled sparkling water or club soda
Directions
Step 1: Choose Your Sangria Option
Choose either the Classic Red Sangria or the Alcohol-Free Hibiscus Sangria. Use the full Shared Fruit Base with your selected option. Each version makes one pitcher.
Step 2: Prepare the Fruit
Core and chop the Pink Lady apple and pear into small, bite-size pieces. Thinly slice the orange, then cut each slice in half.
Place the apple, orange, and pear in a large pitcher. Add the 1/2 cup pulp-free orange juice.
Step 3: Make the Classic Red Sangria
For Option 1, pour the entire bottle of dry Garnacha over the prepared fruit.
Add 1/4 cup Grand Marnier or Cointreau and stir gently to combine.
Step 4: Make the Easy Hibiscus Tea
For Option 2, bring 3 cups water to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the hibiscus tea bags.
Steep for 10 minutes, then remove and discard the tea bags. Let the tea cool for about 30 minutes, or until it is no longer hot.
Step 5: Make the Alcohol-Free Hibiscus Sangria
Pour the cooled hibiscus tea over the prepared fruit and stir gently.
Do not add the sparkling water or club soda yet.
Step 6: Adjust the Sweetness
Taste your prepared sangria before adding any sweetener.
For the Classic Red Sangria, add simple syrup or granulated sugar if desired. For the Alcohol-Free Hibiscus Sangria, use simple syrup, honey, or agave nectar.
Begin with 1 tablespoon, stir well, and taste. Add up to 1 additional tablespoon if you prefer a sweeter sangria.
Step 7: Chill the Sangria
Cover the prepared pitcher and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours to allow the fresh fruit and sangria flavors to blend.
Step 8: Finish and Serve
Stir the chilled sangria gently.
For the Alcohol-Free Hibiscus Sangria, stir in 1 to 1 1/2 cups chilled sparkling water or club soda immediately before serving. Use 1 cup for a stronger hibiscus flavor or 1 1/2 cups for a lighter, more sparkling finish.
Fill glasses with ice, pour in the sangria, and spoon some of the infused fruit into each glass.
Notes
If making both versions, prepare each sangria in a separate pitcher.
For the Classic Red Sangria, choose a dry, fruit-forward Garnacha that is unoaked or lightly oaked. Garnacha is also known as Grenache, and there is no need to use an expensive bottle for sangria.
Grand Marnier provides a richer orange flavor with subtle Cognac notes, while Cointreau has a brighter, cleaner citrus character.
For the Alcohol-Free Hibiscus Sangria, use plain hibiscus herbal tea bags without added sweeteners for the cleanest flavor. The hibiscus tea can be brewed and chilled ahead of time, eliminating the additional cooling time when assembling the sangria.
When serving both versions, keep the Alcohol-Free Hibiscus Sangria clearly separate so guests can easily identify it. Add the sparkling water or club soda just before serving to preserve the carbonation.
Pink Lady apples and firm pears hold their texture well as they infuse and pair especially well with the fresh orange flavor.
Store leftover sangria covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For the hibiscus version, store it without sparkling water when possible and add fresh sparkling water before serving.
Option 1 contains wine and orange liqueur. Must be 21 years of age or older to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages. Please drink responsibly.
