Gluten-Free Tomato Jam Pesto Pizza with Fresh Mozzarella Recipe

Make a gluten-free tomato jam pesto pizza with fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan, and basil for an easy gourmet dinner.

Sweet tomato jam, fragrant basil pesto, creamy fresh mozzarella, and juicy cherry tomatoes come together in this Gluten-Free Tomato Jam Pesto Pizza with Fresh Mozzarella Recipe. Baked on a crisp gluten-free crust and finished with Parmesan, fresh basil, and extra virgin olive oil, every slice offers a delicious balance of sweet, savory, creamy, and herbaceous flavors.

Tomato jam creates a rich base with a subtle sweetness that complements the vibrant pesto without overpowering it. Fresh mozzarella melts into creamy pockets, while halved cherry tomatoes add freshness and a light burst of acidity. Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and optional crushed red pepper flakes give the pizza an extra layer of savory flavor.

This easy gourmet pizza is elegant enough for entertaining but simple enough for a weeknight dinner. Serve it with a crisp green salad, roasted vegetables, or a bowl of soup for a complete meal. It is also an inviting choice for family pizza night, a casual gathering, or a garden-inspired summer dinner.

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 12 to 15 minutes
Total Time: 32 to 35 minutes
Yield:
4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

1 gluten-free pizza crust, homemade or store-bought, 12 to 16 inches
1/2 cup tomato jam
1/3 cup basil pesto
8 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls or fresh mozzarella torn into bite-sized pieces
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
Fresh basil leaves, torn, for garnish
Flaky sea salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Directions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat the oven to 475°F. If using a pizza stone or baking steel, place it in the oven while it preheats. If using a pizza oven, preheat it according to the manufacturer’s directions.

Step 2: Spread the Tomato Jam

Place the gluten-free pizza crust on a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread the tomato jam evenly over the crust, leaving approximately a 1/2-inch border around the edge.

Step 3: Add the Pesto

Spoon the basil pesto over the tomato jam in small dollops. Use the back of a spoon to gently swirl the pesto into the tomato jam, creating ribbons of color without completely blending the two toppings.

Step 4: Layer the Toppings

Arrange the fresh mozzarella evenly over the pizza. Scatter the halved cherry tomatoes over the mozzarella, then sprinkle the Parmesan cheese across the top.

Season the pizza with the Italian seasoning, optional crushed red pepper flakes, flaky sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil.

Step 5: Bake the Pizza

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is crisp and golden and the mozzarella is melted and lightly browned.

If using a pizza oven, bake for approximately 4 to 6 minutes, rotating the pizza as needed for even cooking. Cooking times may vary based on the pizza oven and crust thickness.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and drizzle it with the remaining 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Garnish with torn fresh basil leaves.

Allow the pizza to rest for 2 to 3 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

Use a thick tomato jam so it remains evenly distributed during baking and does not make the crust excessively moist.

Drain fresh mozzarella thoroughly and pat it dry before placing it on the pizza. Removing excess moisture helps the gluten-free crust stay crisp.

Homemade basil pesto provides especially fresh flavor, but a good-quality store-bought pesto also works well.

Different gluten-free pizza crusts may have different baking requirements.

If using a packaged or partially baked crust, review the manufacturer’s instructions and adjust the baking time if necessary.

For additional sweet and tangy flavor, drizzle the finished pizza lightly with balsamic glaze just before serving.

Store leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat it in a 375°F oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until hot and crisp.

Serve this pizza with a fresh green salad, roasted vegetables, or gluten-free soup for a complete meal.

When preparing this recipe for someone with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, verify that the pizza crust, tomato jam, pesto, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and other packaged ingredients are appropriately labeled gluten-free.
